Translation Background

Kapu

Literaly: " Forbiden "

Usually the phrase is spoken as a description of an action. For example:  "Smoking is Kapu".  Sometimes it will be used by itself.  For example: At the doorway to another room, a sign may simply say "Kapu" which would mean "Do Not Enter".  Interchangably, it also is used to mean "Taboo" which is a stronger statement to denote something is REALLY forbidden.

Pronounced " ka poo "
